The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Monday recognized the recipients of the Volunteer Loudoun 2011 Outstanding Volunteer Awards. The awards honor citizens and organizations throughout Loudoun County who donate time and service to their community. The awards were presented in a ceremony held during the Board’s general business meeting.   The Club and one of our members were among the receipients of this distinguished award.  Below are the excerpts from the news release that highlights the Club and Phil Rusciolelli.

Outstanding Volunteer Project – Rotary Club of Leesburg: The New Year’s Day Rotary Resolution Race has become an institution in Loudoun County.  It requires hundreds of hours of volunteer service by Rotary members. This year’s race resulted in $30,000 for Loudoun nonprofits serving children and their families.

Outstanding Older Adult Volunteer – Philip Rusciolelli: Beneficiaries of Rusciolelli’s dedication to community service include the Special Olympics, patients at Veterans Administration hospitals, the Leesburg Rotary Club, The ARC of Loudoun, and the Sweats for Vets program.
