On this special day, I want to express appreciation to our veterans, and provide an update on "what you missed last week" for anyone who was unable to attend our Veteran's Day event.

Last Thursday, five of our own club veterans, who were randomly selected from many club veterans, shared their thoughts and fascinating stories about military service.  In the backdrop, dozens of photos of our club and family veterans flashed with animated flags and stars on a large screen. Phil Rusciolelli provided red poppies, a symbol of respect and remembrance for veterans.

The meeting concluded with the eloquently told story of the Doolittle Raiders.  Their Tokyo raid was a turning point in WWII. President-elect Chuck Reavis narrated the story and past president Ron Rogos offered the toast. Members and guests raised glasses for a Cognac toast.  It was a moving tribute to the Doolittle Raiders and all veterans.  On Saturday, we learned that three of the four remaining Raiders met in Dayton, Ohio, for what they said would be their last reunion and final toast to the men lost in the raid and since then.

The tribute to our brave veterans was one of the most memorable and heartwarming events that I have experienced. Thank you veterans!
